Kanye West Faces New Copyright Lawsuit Over “Donda” Tracks

Kanye West, now known as Ye, is embroiled in another legal battle over his 2021 album “Donda.” This time, the lawsuit centers on alleged copyright infringement in two of the album’s songs, “Hurricane” and “Moon.”

The suit, filed in California by Artist Revenue Advocates (ARA) on behalf of four musicians, claims that West incorporated elements from their song “MSD PT2” without permission. According to the lawsuit, West was denied permission to use the material but proceeded to include it anyway, even crediting the original creators as songwriters. ARA argues that this act went beyond simply neglecting to pay licensing fees and emphasizes the artists’ right to control how their work is used.

This isn’t the first time “Donda” has landed West in hot water. Previously, he faced legal action regarding unauthorized use of a sample in another song on the album, “Good (Don’t Lie),” and has a history of copyright infringement lawsuits throughout his career.

The outcome of this case remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see how the court weighs the inclusion of credits against the alleged lack of permission. Stay tuned for further developments in this ongoing legal saga.
