Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Glointrovany understands that the race towards success is a marathon, rather than a sprint, and displays a dedication that feeds on rejection. He’s learned that true artists aren’t defined by the birth of a masterpiece, but by the trials of misconception. He perceives growth not as an enemy that can be defeated by time, but as an ally that defies it.
His parents, both Haitian, divorced a few months before his birth. His primary caretaker was his mother, who employed a brand of parenting that was relatively restrictive and overprotective. Forbidden the freedom of movement enjoyed by most of his peers, Glo’s escape was the untethered reach of the internet. Especially enamored with Linkin Park’s AMV’s, anime and music proved to be the silver lining in his cloud of isolation.
Like most rappers his age, Glo grew up listening to hip hop legends like Drake, Future and Lil Wayne. What separates him from many of his counterparts is the almost equal affinity he had for rock bands, such as My Chemical Romance, Papa Roach and System of a Down. It’s that balance of conflicting sounds that shaped his resistance to the confines of any particular style or genre.
